A Fruitful Trip...
Last weekend was spent at SummerSet Endau-Rompin. AXN organised a Trade Event and they invited media agencies and clients to join the 3 days-2 nights event. It was my first event organised by Media Owner. All paid, no need to fork out $$.
One of the activities held was to complete a race. It's like Amazing Race. We were grouped into a team of 4. A guy and 3 girls (just to be fair, i guess). We have to find an answer for a question. In order to answer it, we have to complete 9 tasks to collect 9 clues at 9 different CheckPoints around the resort. Every checkpoint has a theme, based on all the famous series showing on AXN.
The race was scheduled at 2 in the afternoon! Luckily it was not very sunny, or else we would be over-burnt by the sun.
My team's first CheckPoint (CP1) was the furthest from where we were flagged off. We were running at first, then we jogged, then we walked .... breathless... and found the villa at the end of the resort. Inside the villa, we were required to find an envelope and complete the task to get our first clue. The villa was so dark, and all the furniture was covered with white cloths, sort of to create a "Supernatural" feel. One torch was given to each team and we dashed inside. Searched up and down and I found the envelope hidden in between pages of a magazine, which was placed under a drawer, covered by a white cloth. (confusing right?) Inside, there were pieces of papers. It was a puzzle. We arranged it, glued it and that puzzle was our first clue!
Next is CP2. I couldn't catch up with my team mates and was left behind! When i reach the beach front, i was looking left and right for them. WHERE ARE THEY??? Some marshals noticed that i was "lost" and directed me to my team members who were already waiting at the beach side. Darn...so embarrassing. CP2 we have to pushed a yacht out to the sea, 2 members had to stand on top and make a surfer "pose". We were given a "horse" clue after the task.
CP3 was about Numbers. We were given a Sudoku puzzle to be solved. ArGGghhh!!! Sudoku! I have never try playing before. All of us were "virgin" on this. But we were cool enough to get it done! The numbers from the puzzule was our clue.
CP4, a Contender task. We have to dig into the sand to find the "Contender" glove, crawled over the sand dune, inflate the glove and then yelled "I'm the Next CONTENDER"! I was already exhausted after all the digging and running around the beach and we still have 5 more stops!!! Given a bottle filled with hair.
Then we went to CP5, near the swimming pool. We had to carry 2 persons using a DIY stretcher without getting her wet. First person was wet, but the marshal closed one eyes. The next person was dry. Clue in hand and we have no idea what it was. An odd looking metal object. No time to guess, we proceeded to the next check point.
Next, CP6, we couldn't find it! We were running around, and the stop was just a few steps away from CP4. We over-looked and dashed like mad people. Ended up the marshal redirect us back to the stop. Haha. It was Fear Factor stop. There was an aquarium filled with slimmy worms. We have to find 4 chips inside and wrote down the alphabets written on the chips. We got Y O G E. That's our clue. RUN!!!
CP7, one member have to navigate ourselves to find a clue, based on the instruction given. Talk 10 steps front, turn 90 degrees left...those kind of instruction. It was an Amazing Race envelope. Inside was the clue, a shoe print.
CP8, we ended up in front of the resort. 1 member have to dig inside a bin, which was filled with rotten meat and the smell was awful! The guy in our team actually swore " i'm going to become a vegetarian"! That bad. Found a glasses case inside.
Last but not least, the last checkpoint!!! CP9. 2 members had to kayak across a pond to collect our clue. I It was a piece of paper with "libra" written on it.
It was a mad dash back to the lobby. We have to show them that we have completed all the tasks before they gave us a list of answers to pick. We cracked the clue, found the answer and submitted! We were the 4th team out of 20 teams. Only the top 3 teams will get prizes. oh MAN!!! We prayed hard that we would get something...
Winners of the race were announced during dinner time. DAmn...we missed out on the prizes. We were the 4th team. Better luck next round.
No prizes on the race, never mind! Besides the goodies bag given by AXN for everyone, there were many lucky prizes to be won! The grand draw was a Samsung 26" LCD TV, followed by Canon cameras, Motorola bluetooths, DVDs, and some other stuff.
It was the final 3 draws. 2 cameras and 1 tv left. "Which one is mine??" The person picked a card and said "ah, this person has the same surname as me, Ng.".... Me????? "Denise Ng from xxx". Cheh! Then he drew another card. "ah! what a coincidence!!! This perso's surname is also Ng...Mimi Ng from ZenithOptimedia!" I was grinning so widely!!! Finally it's my name!! Rushed up on stage to get my envelope! Hahaha. I was up on stage twice earlier to collect the lucky draw prizes on behalf my 2 colleagues. Third time up stage, IT's MINE!
Funny part, I just bought myself a Panasonic Lumix on Tuesday. 2 cameras in 5 days. AWESOME! The more the merrier!!!! Will get the camera soon, once they sorted out everything.
