mid-autumn festival
today is mid-autumn festival. or commonly known as lantern festival or mooncake festival. it falls on the 15th of the eighth month (lunar calendar). it's one of the major festives in the lunar calendar.
after mid-auntumn, the chinese will be looking forward to the winter soltis! and that means CNY is coming soon. but that's still a few months more to go..
last weekend, we went out to the temple in kajang town to celebrate the lantern festival. parents were part of the committees, so they asked us to go out to participate and also help out with the free buffet dinner for the public.
there was a lantern competition too! there were so many creative entries! so hard to pick the winner. my personal favourite would be the "ferris-wheel" lantern, made from recycle tin can.
below were some of the entries.
ferris-wheel, petronas twin tower, malaysian 'flavor', ketupat look-alike, and tudung saji lantern.

after dinner, we participated in the parade around kajang town! there was a dragon dance that led the way. all of us were given a paper lantern and off we went... i missed the good old time. i used to have pretty lanterns! all neighbours would be out from the house after dinner and started playing with candles. we walked around the neighbourhood. although exam always fall on this time, we still managed to play until late night. hehehehe..
that night, we had as much fun as the kid!

it's raining tonight...i wonder whether the moon is out.
happy mid-autumn festival.
