wedding, wedding and more wedding (2008)
i have declared the month of November as "banquet month".
1) Carmen & Matthew (15th Nov 08, Sat)
the wedding lunch reception was held at The Courtyard with the presence of family and friends.
the theme was purple and white. it would be fun to dress up according to theme. hence, i went and bought a purple dress. first sight, it looked like blue. but after a while, it was purple.
i was supposed to be seated at Akihabara table. but none of the guest were there yet. hence, i hopped to another table, Kyoto and made myself comfortable there. lunch was buffet style. the food was nice. i love the potatoes most! the rain cooled down the hot weather on that day.

2) Suat Lie & Kien Hong (21st - 22nd Nov 08, Sat & Sun)
they booked the restaurant 1 year in advance, and yet they could only secured Friday for their wedding reception, a day before their wedding ceremony. blessing in disguise for me because i have another wedding to attend on Saturyday! (details at No. 3)
both the bride and groom were my schoolmates. although we hardly see each other, but we still managed to maintain a close friendship. both of them will fly back to Scotland, where the groom will be working in London, and the bride in Scotland.
they actually announced their wedding dates 1 year in advance. i teased the groom, "you know, 21st Nov is my mum's birthday. but since you informed me a year in advance, i shall block the date for you!". i still remember last year, where i had back-to-back wedding dinners too!
the dinner was at Hee Lai Ton Restaurant in Serdang. i took a day off. needed to rest (crazy days at work) and to prepare the things to tease the groom on Saturday. dinner started at 8.30pm. expected due to a working Friday. everywhere would be jammed up! the food was a bit salty for my taste. and the karaoke machine was occupied throughout the dinner. we were screaming at each other when talking. LOUD!
Chong was supposed to reach Suat Lie's house at 11.30am. if it was earlier, it would be a mad rush for me because i had a yoga class at 8am. no replacement teacher as all were occupied. the theme was "Art & Craft", where he has to write a poem, calligraphy style. then fold 128 lucky stars & to create a Heart shape from a piece of bread. as usual, the 4 tastes were included. bitter, hot, sour & sweet. i turned all into ice cubes. didnt give them any hard time. hahaha. both sides are friends, so it's better dont go overboard!
it was a very hot day! i was sweating profusely under the tent outside the house. and when we were at the groom's house, i think i have sweat buckets! paper plates were used to fan ourselves. once all ceremony were over, we went to their new house. simple decoration for the newly-weds.
there is a tradition, whereby a boy (i.e. children) must jump on the new bed. (why not girl?) anyway, there was no children that followed us to the new house. the youngest boys would be my guy friends, all reaching 30 years old! hahahahahaha. and finally, one friend volunteered to roll on the bed, instead of jumping (for safety reason). all of us had a good laugh!

3) Sunetraling & Eng Tat aka ET (22nd Nov 2008, Sat)
when i harrassed her for her wedding date earlier this year, she said, "22nd Nov 08". i said, "SURE ah?" oh my.... it would clash with my girlfriend wedding! luckily the dinners were on separate days.
the bride was very understanding when i told her i could not make it for her morning ceremony due to unforeseen circumstances. i had yoga class to teach. i love you, KK!
the dinner was at Flamingo Hotel. the reception was for KL families and friends. the food was nice for a halal restaurant! it was a "reunion" dinner for us as some went separate ways, i.e. to another agency. it was catch-up time and laughing time. all were waiting to see the lovely bride. and when both of them marched in, STUNNING! beautiful bride, handsome groom!
from her wedding gown, she changed into a saree. (i must say it was a brilliant idea, right KK?)
