NZ : Day 4
places that we planned to visit today:
1) huka falls
2) prawn park
3) taupo hot spring spa
4) lava glass studio
5) NZ fruit wines
6) wairakei
from napier, we headed back to taupo. before we said bye bye to napier, we stopped at Silky Oak Chocolate Factory to taste the "extreme hot chocolate with chilli", highly recommeded by the manager of archie's bunker. since we have a few chocolate manias among us, we headed straight there after checkout.

#1 : chocolate cake, extreme hot chocolate with chilli, & spinach quiche
the cake & quiche was nice. but the extreme hot chocolate with chilli was not as GOOD as we thought it would be. it was very thick... too thick!! and not HOT as in pedas. hmm...weird combination. wonder why the mat salleh love this.
and we left after buying some chocolates, and headed towards huka prawn park. we planned to have lunch there and also to give the chefs a chance to rest. we followed the map given by archie's bunker and reached there around noon. we have to pay to enter the prawn farm. neither one of us were interested with "prawn fishing". our mind was food. hungry. food. we wanted food & headed straight to the restaurant. the smell of food. wah.....

#2 : curry prawn rice, fish & chips, seafood chowder, fresh prawns with garlic & chips
it was a hearty lunch for all of us. a proper lunch after 3 days of "own-cooked-meal". hahahaha. total bill was NZ 200+ for lunch. expensive? ok lah. (dont think about conversion lor).

#3 : in the ladies, i saw this board. two thingi's... interesting...
after lunch, we went to huka falls, which were a few km from huka prawn park. this falls are the largest on the waikato river. we were greeted with this scene below. we WAH WEE WOOOO when we saw the colour of the river. blue like listerine, that's what crossed my mind! and the water must be very cold too! hahahaha... wah...

#4 : waikato river
and we walked further down the trail, and we saw the falls. stunned. we walked along the riverside and took some pictures at the several viewing platforms.

#5 : huka falls
"At the Huka Falls, the Waikato River which is normally 100m wide, is squeezed through a 20 metre wide gorge and over a 20m drop.Every second up to 220,000 litres of water gushes through the gorge and shoots out over 8 metres beyond to create a beautful blue/green pool. The name Huka is the Maori word for 'foam', which is appropriate as the falling water and rapids certainly resembles foam, especially under flooding conditions." on the way back to our hostel in taupo, we stopped at a scenic lookout to take some photos of taupo town. the weather was sunny. clear blue sky with cottony clouds. it was windy too! nice nice nice!

we stopped at Woolsworth for marketing before we checked into YHA Taupo. we had a room of 8 beds again. this time, a japanese girl was the 8th guest in the room. there was a spa pool at the compound area. very tempting! but it was so cold in the evening. tak jadi dipping lor.
#7 : spa pool! very tempting, but it was outisde the hostel.
dinner, we had laksa johor with soba & udon noodles. malaysian flavour with japanese noodles. not a bad combination. & we found this funny looking thing at the supermarket.
#8 : fruit? vege?
this was what they called, kiwano. the texture inside was similiar with cucumber. not my type of "fruit". sook man finished the kiwano during breakfast. she scrapped all inside her honey. dont waste food, she said.
