I wrote these 10 years ago. I used to commute to work via KTM train, hence I have a lot of "waiting time" at train station. The content of this book were mostly about my "pain" waiting for the train and summaries of how my day went by.  " Missed the train by seconds.... too many people...the day sucks... etc. "  The reason I write is because I like to read back what I have written months / years ago. Sometimes, will bring back sweet memories, but of course, there will be some "not so pleasant" memories. So, 10 years ago, when life was simpler, books were my companion when I commute. No FB, no Insta, no smartphone, no MRT!! And writing was only possible when I was sitting and waiting for the arrival of KTM train. Not sure whether I read this somewhere, or  maybe I actually wrote the above? Hahaha....  Reading this 10 years later, not bad eh...   Today, 10 years ago, it was about how the day went by, and what would be co...

EL

the rain started when i was about to leave the house. and it continued to pour heavily. and caused a jam along the road heading to ktm station. when i reached the station, the rain has stopped. i saw a train just left the station. i continued to walk to the platform at the opposite side. and when i reached to the other side, there was an announcement over the PA system. "the next train to rawang has been delayed (what is new??). the next train will arrive in 45mins time". *jaw dropped* WTF? 45mins? that's almost an hour! are you KIDDING me?? and i stood there, thinking what should i do. 1) to continue waiting at the train station? or 2) to go home, eat breakfast, then drive to office? i decided to go home and eat breakfast and think about the next plan. as i was walking to the entrance of the station, another announcement was made. "due to train derailment in Nilai station, the next train will arrive at 8.10am." it was only 730am. informed my bosses ...

free ride

for the past 3 days, when i touched out from ktm kl sentral, i was a VERY HAPPY passenger. why? t&g displayed a very nice number. RM 0.00. i dont know when this started as i only noticed the zero on tuesday morning. i thought my vision was blurred due to early morning. the zero made me panic for awhile because i thought it would caused an error in the card. so, i tried with lrt. no problem accessing. the next morning, i touched out again. zero. hahahaha... the next next morning (which was yesterday lah), zero again. hahahaha..... this morning, RM 2.80. my happiness was cut short. happy friday!

immune jor

hai.... it's the ktm train again today. reached kl sentral at about 6+pm. as usual, there was a big crowd at the platform. expected. then, i heard the announcement. "technical problem at bank negara station. train to klang and seremban will be delayed". ok. expected too! i heard another annoucement, "train to sg buloh arriving soon". i quickly went to the opposite side of the platform to board the train to kl station. my usual practise whenever kl sentral is packed. once inside the train, felt glad that i didnt have to wait at kl sentral. waited for the train to close the door. the door was not closed. remained open for quite some time. why ah? close the door lah! waited and waited... about 10min later, i walked out of the train. i walked back to seremban platform because announcement said train to bangi arriving soon. the platform was so crowded. i didnt even walked down the stairs. i heard another announcement. "train to sentul arriving soon"". ...

up & down thursday

this morning, everything was smooth. and i even received an early birthday present from a colleague! and my birthday is like.. 2 weeks away? hahaha! then by noon, things started to get bumpy. received a brief that has to be completed by end of the day. ok... then SL told me ktm service is "a bit" down in the afternoon (prompted by aunty J) err.... ok.. then later in the evening, SL called again and said monorail service was down. she has to walk all the way to lrt station. err... ok.. because i have not finished my work, i could not follow Tigger back to kajang. continued working until 7.30pm, SL called again. and this time, she was crying over the phone. "dont take the KTM today!!!" (my first thought was she got harassed! but no, it was not, it was even WORSE than that) "the train that i took just now was on fire. heard some explosion then saw fire" (i could not hear clearly because she was crying and talking at the same time.) "i dont know where i a...

i'm waiting for my sister to pick me up. i persuaded her to pick me because i heard today's KTM service was down in the afternoon. dare not to take the risk and then get stranded at kl sentral. ktm service has been down since monday. since the derailment , all schedules went kukoo! never ending story when comes to KTM. technical disruption, flood...... she is here!

came in early this morning. it has been awhile since i took the 642am train. taking the earlier train means have to wake up earlier! usually i take the 657am train. but for the past 1 week, the 657am train has been cancelled. for no reason! we have to wait for the next train which was scheduled at 712am. due to the cancellation, it means JAM PACK in the next train because the 657am crowd will be merging with the 712am crowd. imagine, i could not moved my hands to scratch my face. it was that packed! so, i have no option but to take the earlier train. my working hours starts at 830am. but it's good also lah. early means less crowd in ktm and also monorail. and it's cooler when i'm walking from kl sentral to monorail station. and i can enjoy my breakfast in the office :) friends asked me before, "no plan to buy a car? you can stand (endure) taking train everyday?"... my answer, "everyday i ' stand ' in the train to go to work (no seat ma). i could not s...

earth hour

Image
Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF ( World Wide Fund for Nature , also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change . Earth hour was conceived by WWF and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. [ 1 ] Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Earth Hour 2010 will take place on March 27, 2010 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., local time. (source: here ) last year, my house was in darkness for an hour. we walked out to check our neighbours. only my opposite house switched off the lights. others were brightly lit. muahaha! we only kept the fan moving as it was quite hot. this year, i have a party to atten...

think too much?

it was already 7.30pm when i took my komuter back to kajang. train came and i boarded. i walked to the end of the coach, and a man occupied 2 seats, with his eyes closed. cilaka! then he opened his eyes. he saw me. he took his bag, put on his lap, and he moved to the outer seat. i took the inside seat. then i started reading. i was on mp3 too. could not really concentrate because i was reading and trying to "sing" at the same time! hahaha... not sing out loud, of course. sing in the heart... anyway, the man next to me has his backpack on his right thigh. then his left hand was tapping near his groin area. *ahem* NO, i didnt turn and look. i saw the movement of the fingers from the corner of my eyes. light tapping. not on the thigh.. but at the "centre" of the groin area wor. non stop! at first i wanted to stop reading and nap for a while. but, when i "noticed" the tapping, i told myself, better be awake. better be safe than "tapped". i was seated...

how was your long weekend? mine.... ok ler. on haji eve, i left office around 8pm. due to the holiday on friday, we have to make sure all things were settled before the long weekend. normally, if it's already dark outside, i will not walk to klcc. instead, it would be monorail, star lrt, then ktm for home. and i'm usually in my own world when i'm inside the train. cucuk mp3, listening to my favourite playlist , and also dont want "stranger" to talk to me. but a stranger did talk to me on haji eve. i was standing beside this uncle. and i smelled something fishy. no, the smell was not from the uncle. he was a clean uncle. he was holding a plastic bag. i was guessing what's inside the bag. we acknowledged each other by nodding. then i continued to stare at the window, looking at my own reflection :) then i noticed he kept looking down at the plastic bag he was holding. i also looked down. i was like, " why ah? the bag dripping meh? i didnt feel anything on m...

choo choo train story

Image
komuter is my mode of transport to work. for many many years, there were many ups & downs. train delayed for hours, jam packed train, stranded in stations, flooded track, & the best currently was the walk along the railway track . let me add more to my choo choo train story. yesterday, the aircond in the train was out of order. never mind. nothing new. then, water started 'flowing' (not dripping...it was flowing) from the 'roof' of the train. rain in the train! so rhyme! hahaha. i was standing very near the spot. hesitated whether to take picture or not. scared people will laugh at me for being so sakai. but dont care lah. #1 : (t)rain juice? some one must have tried to stop the water from flowing down. see the the tissue paper? #2 : the seat was soaking wet after 15 mins. i have submitted pic #1 to The Star, hoping to win RM50. last attempt failed. better luck this time? hehehehe....

let's go for a walk...

along the railway track.... :) yes, no kidding! today i had the experience of walking along the railway track. usually i will be inside the train, using the railway track. but this evening after work, i had the chance to walk along it! i thought it would be a smooth ride home today. the train was on schedule, the crowd was bearable, until the train left salak selatan station. there are a few electricity transmission towers near the station, so everytime the train passes by, it will shut down the engine and restart again. today, the engine failed to restart after many attempts. we started to get irritated and frustrated. since the engine failed to start, there was no air-cond and lights inside the train. it was getting stuffy. we couldnt open the door or any windows at all. if i was to trap inside for more than 15 minutes, i think i would faint!! and as usual, the driver just announced "train mengalami kerosakan". that's all. only after 20 minutes, he informed us to get do...
