tis the season to be jolly

yes, the season to be jolly... april was a jolly month. i went to singapore for a 3 days 2 nights trip, courtesy of AXN. we stayed at rasa sentosa shangrila. couldnt recall when was the last time i went there. and tomorrow, my family & i will be heading to cameron highlands for a 4 days 3 nights stay. we are joining Simon of Kajang & family. they invited us to join them for a family holiday. cool.. cool indeed to stay uphill. rest & relax. until then... tis the season to be jolly, to be happy :)

the gift of sight

we see with our eyes, we even "eat" with our eye. that's why colourful food always seem tasty :) by using eye contacts, you can communicate. not a sound needed. just look into the "receiver"'s eyes and send the "message". it's a matter of how the "receiver" decipher it :) if the receiver knows you well, he/she will get what you mean. message is sent. that's what all of us usually do, ROLL our eyes, when there is a irritating person talking non-stop. hahaha. yesterday, i was lingering at One U while waiting for inter-agency bowling tournament. while i was walking around, i saw a local artist. he is a singer, named Ah Ming. he was previously with another guy. both formed a group, called Island. i used to bump into him at KLCC. he is very fair, although not very tall, but he attracted my attention every time! and without fail, i will just look at him...... then this time round, i saw him walking pass. i stared at him (as usual) and h...

my first volunteer work

Image
today i volunteered at Pusat Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kajang booth at Smart Kid's 2008 exhibition at PWTC. they didnt have enough manpower to watch the stall, so they asked mum to help out and mum asked me to tag along. so i took a day off (since yesterday was a public holiday too), so i can have a long weekend. and no harm helping out. :) our shift started at 3pm - 9pm. we drove down with another teacher, David. when we reached there, the booth was so simple. we wanted a more attractive booth in order to attract the crowd. so i went to buy some masking tape, and started decorating the booth with the lovely cards that were made by the special kids. we managed to add some colours to the wall, and people did notice us. the afternoon crowd bought cards and some donated money. bless them for their big heart! if the booth is at a more crowded "street", i am sure the sale will be higher and the donation will be more too! me & mum had fun walking around the hall. there were 2 l...

my name in the paper

Image
my name appeared in The Star on 19th Mar 08. after the "walk along railway track", i emailed one of the photo to thumbnails.thestar.com.my. trying my luck to win the RM50. but i guess my photo was not as drama as the winner. click http://thumbnails.thestar.com.my/view.asp?id=2580 i think i need to take more funny pictures! hehehe.

let's go for a walk...

Image
along the railway track.... :) yes, no kidding! today i had the experience of walking along the railway track. usually i will be inside the train, using the railway track. but this evening after work, i had the chance to walk along it! i thought it would be a smooth ride home today. the train was on schedule, the crowd was bearable, until the train left salak selatan station. there are a few electricity transmission towers near the station, so everytime the train passes by, it will shut down the engine and restart again. today, the engine failed to restart after many attempts. we started to get irritated and frustrated. since the engine failed to start, there was no air-cond and lights inside the train. it was getting stuffy. we couldnt open the door or any windows at all. if i was to trap inside for more than 15 minutes, i think i would faint!! and as usual, the driver just announced "train mengalami kerosakan". that's all. only after 20 minutes, he informed us to get do...

phew.....i survived

this morning, there were 2 sessions of yoga class, basic yoga at 8am and yogarobic at 10am. i was the "instructor". tried to keep myself calm, but sister said that i was nervous! who doesnt get nervous?? standing in front of the class, giving instructions, i was glad that i survived both sessions. my eyes were locked at the clock, watching it ticking minutes by minutes, hoping the class would end soon. i think i did ok :) but i still need to brush up! first and foremost, the warming up session for yogarobic. jumping up & down, arms flipping right and left...and then the mind turned blank after a few varieties. luckily elaine was at the back, showing me what to do next. hahahaha. damn embarrassing if she wasnt around. and i need to learn on how to give instructions so that the students understand what i want them to do. hahaha. right hand, left leg, thigh, knee, elbow....and i also need to know the BM version too! it's because we have a class specially arranged for a d...

A new member in the family; Canon Ixus 70

Image
few weeks back, i received a phone call in the office. it was from AMP marketing rep. A : hey, what's your full name? M : why ah? you want to give me angpow ah (it was still CNY period) A : yeah yeah. i want to you angpow. no lah, i want to give you 800+ M : huh? you want to give a 8 can of 100 plus ah? A : NO, i want to give you products worth RM 800+ M : oh.....why ah? what for? A : it's a surprise. let you know soon about this. bye! and i thought he was just pulling my leg. so i told my boss about this, we laughed and i put that aside. last week, he called again, and told me that i should be expecting my gift soon. i was like, 'yeah right! my 8 can of 100 plus right!'. and today, he called to check whether he can drop by to pass me the gift. i was like, "Wah! this is REAL! YES! it was no joke!". Around 3plus, my third child, Canon Ixus 70 arrived. welcome to my digital camera family. oh, i have 2 at home at the moment. my eldest cam, Panasonic Lumix fx9 was...

family outings

Image
first time during CNY, the whole family went out for an outing. we headed up north to penang with anne, foo, regine & tommy. 10 of us in 2 cars started the journey at 630am. pit stop at Bidor for breakfast. i was barely awake throughout the journey. why? it is because i didnt sleep the night before. it was the 9th day of CNY. i was on leave, so i invited some friends over for a mahjong session. we played and played and the clock continue ticking until it was 3am. i asked them whether they wanted to continue until 6am. they agreed and we played until 5am and finally stopped. we proceeded to McD for breakfast before we started our journey to penang. i slept in the car...eyes were so heavy but the mind was so active. i kept thinking about the tiles...hahahaha. it was so hot in penang. we went to find the food that we wanted to eat and went to places that we wanted to go. Kek Lok Si was one of the place that we stopped by. the last time i was there, i was 12 years old. the next day mor...

Gong Xi Gong Xi Fa Chai!

Image
Kong Hei Fatt Choy! today is the the 3rd day of CNY. usually during CNY, i lost track what day it is, as in monday, tuesday, wednesday..etc. haha. i dont know why, but it happens every year! this year, boss declared off on CNY eve. so we dont have to "fight" for leave. :) we went out for reunion dinner again this year with Mr Tay & family. we started doing this last year, when mum couldnt really "work hard" last year due to her aching shoulder / back. so, Mrs Tay suggested to mum that we joined their family for a reunion dinner and also to celebrate dad's birthday which falls on the 1st day of CNY and Mrs Tay, on the 4th day of CNY....i think we will be doing this next year and many more years to come. hehehe. the food was served very fast because the restaurant has to clear the 6pm reservations to make way for the 8pm crowd. we just ate and ate and ate. the restaurant was packed because it was the only restaurant in kajang that is open on CNY eve. reservat...

lost and gained

ha! i lost 2kgs in 3 days and gained back in 2 days. i didnt even reach 58, as i thought i would be. i was at 59 on saturday morning and by sunday evening, it's back to normal. kind of disappointed with myself. cannot resist food. haha. craved for rice, craved for everything. so i think i should cut down on my food consumption, in order not to gain any more weight. i want the scale to move to the left, instead of to the right.....like the song "to the left, to the left..." oh, and also to attend more yoga class. sweat sweat sweat. will i repeat the menu again? nah...dont think so...

2nd & 3rd day...

these are day 2 menu.. breakfast menu : 1 slice of toast 1 egg (boiled) 1 cup of tea 1 small banana i prefer 1st day breakfast... more yummy because of the tuna. lunch menu : 4 oz cottage cheese 5 pieces of ritz biscuits 1 cup of coffee i had a tough time finishing the cottage cheese at one go. it looked like mashed toufoo. the taste was not very strong though. 5 small crackers was not enough to "accompany" the cheese. there was about 0.5z left...before i started puking, i stopped eating and put it back into the fridge. i only finished all by 430. dinner menu : 1/2 slice of chicken breast 2 oz of carrot 4 oz of broccoli 1 small banana 4 oz of vanilla ice cream i was hungry by the time i reached home at 8pm. food was nice! i knew i couldnt finish 4 oz of ice-cream, i cut down the portion to about 3 oz. and because i ate earlier on 2nd day, hence i could finish all, without feeling STUFF. day 3... breakfast menu : 1 slice of toast 1 egg (boiled) 1 cup of tea lunch menu : 1 slic...

1st day....

breakfast menu : 1 slice of toast 2 teaspoons of peanut butter jam 1 cup of tea (without sugar / milk) - O, really O! 1 grapefruit i ate my bread and drank my tea at 815am. i couldnt eat the grapefruit after that, so i waited until 10am. first slice - sour...then got a tinge of bitter. continued eating and when there were 2 slices left, i stopped. the bitterness was unbearable. then i remembered jane saying that she ate the grapefruit like eating pomelo. so i peeled off the skin and ate the pulp. ah...now the grapefruit is tasty. by 11.30am, my tummy started making noise. HUH? and i thought mum said this morning breakfast would be very filling, ie. i wont get hungry until late noon. how wrong! and stomach kept grumbling and i drank a lot of water in order to fill it up while waiting for lunch. kept looking at the watch. time passed so slowly. i started cleaning my drawer to keep myself occupied until lunch hour. finished cleaning at 1230, i forced myself to wait until 1pm. lunch menu :...

my first (lucky) draw...my first (diet) plan

Image
my first (lucky) draw : hehehe, i cant believe that i actually won a CD today. it was distributed by 8tv, and all the songs were sang by their in-house artistes. from singers to models, from newscaster to tv host...nice album. being a typical chinese, i love CNY songs. oh, by the way, there are 23 days more to go!!!! i think i am going to blast the CD when i start spring-cleaning the house this weekend, or maybe next weekend?? :P my first (diet) plan : me & my second elder sister will start a diet plan tomorrow. it is known as the "british diet"..dont ask me why, i only know that after eating for 3 days, i will loose 3 kgs. HUH?? serious??? hahaha. shall update after the 3rd day. my eldest sister and mum already started the plan and today is their 2nd day. they 'claimed' that they have lost 1kg, so 2 more kgs to go...! and these are the pictures taken during my aunt's 80th birthday. indeed, majorities of us wore RED or YELLOW that night. aunt gave out angpow t...

Year 2007

Image
it has been a very "blessed" year for me!! it all started in March, when i won myself a lucky draw during our Star+Zenith CNY luncheon. Star gave out 2 cameras, 2 i-pods & 2 handphones. i was so happy that i won the grand prize, i.e. the nokia n73! colleagues almost killed me for winning! hahaha. then on 3rd November, we participated in The Sun Motor Hunt. it was a very "jam" hunt. we were speeding whenever possible. and we even took the risk of skipping a sector so that we could reach the finish line in time. we were penalised for being 8 minutes late. our total score was 65/130. we didnt go to the dinner because we thought we would not win anything. on the following monday, i asked for the result from the organiser and we were told that we were at 112th placing. i knew there were prizes for top 115th teams. i was so happy!!! the prizes remain "unknown" until they arrived on 13th Dec. a Philip iron for each of the team mates. hahahahaha. last but not ...

Drink Drank Drunk

Image
Finally, all the weddings have come and gone. Dinner time was gathering time for me to meet up with friends and also relatives. A friend came back all the way from UK just to attend a dinner. So sweet of him. Was caught with bad sore throat and cough recently. Sleepless night due to the "night" coughing. But i didnt let it to spoil my fun. The wedding ceremony at Malacca was the best. Accommodation & food were faboulous. Had a crazy mahjong marathon from 5.30pm - 12 midnight. We skipped dinner, drank only water and had a few toilet breaks. That's how we addictive we are into mahjong... No drinking for me because i am a lousy drinker. A combination of 20% beer + 80% 7-up is enough to turn myself into a red lobster. Damn embarrassing because people thought i have drank by the dozens. 50% of the guest who attended cousin bro wedding dinner were drunk to the max! Even my cousin & uncle also intoxicated. Haha..it's his wedding, so i guess it's ok to have fun on...

Wedding, wedding and more wedding

After the 7th month of Chinese lunar calendar, people will get "busy" with weddings. My family is being bombared by "red bombs" starting end of October till December. Almost every weekend will have to attend wedding dinner. It's either me, twins or parents will be occupied. We will be broke come December. I penned all the weddings on the whiteboard. It was fully covered, that's how "many" weddings we have to attend. Dinner dress will be "recycled" throughout this period. My plan to get a kebaya has been binned. It's so expensive to get a kebaya top. Averagely have to spend RM 150-200, and the cutting was not really great. Sigh.... Spent time walking around the BIG MALLS. Came home empty handed. Went over to gf's house, and lucky me, i can fit into her dresses!!! She has "out-grow" the dresses, so i am the next heir for 2 dresses! COOL!!! I will attend back to back wedding dinners on 10th & 11th Nov. Luckily no clashe...

Sari now -- kebaya next!

Image
last night was fun...although not as fun as Xmas party, but still fun. everyone dressed up to the nines. baju kurung, kebaya, cheongsam, punjabi suit, sari...we looked so muhibah! cross-culture dressing is fun. hehehe. i choose to wear a sari. twins tailor-made a set when they went to Mt Abu, India. sari...who will tie for me? i tied it myself. i am so proud that i managed to do it! i printed the instructions from internet and tried at home. after a few rounds, YES! it's tucked in properly. we "finished" work at 4pm yesterday so that we have time to doll up for the dinner (that's what boss said). started "wrapping" at 530. i helped another colleague with her sari after i have done mine. my research boss also gave us a good few tips on how to make the pleats nicer and how to walk in sari too! this is how i looked like in sari....hahahaha. perhaps i should get a sari for myself :) before that, i must get a kebaya. mei's is getting married to a baba in nove...
